I thought I kept my old knife set sharp. And then I got this set from Wusthof and now I realize that my old knives were not sharp at all. And I never realized before how much a sharp knife helps in the kitchen.Yes, they're expensive. But you get what you pay for with this set. Very sharp and very high quality. The butcher block is also very beautiful. Think of it as a lifetime purchase because you will never need another set of knives again.
I didn't need anything more than the knives that came with this set. They are best quality, very durable, and very sharp out of the box. I have used a hollow-ground Wustof Santoku for years that just gets thrown in a drawer when not in use and it has help up perfectly. I've had it sharpened professionally once in maybe 10 years. They are not cheap but this is the last set of knives I'll ever need to buy.
I wasn't sure if it was worth the price from online pictures. When I reviewed in person everything exciting my expectations. I'm a fan of wood, the color contrast on the base was amazing. One of a kind.
really love these beauties,, sharp and handsome. worth it.
These are really nice. Every piece is the highest quality, (as you would expect at their price). The different blade designs in this set cover just about every kitchen use you will encounter. Out of the box razor sharp....All you will ever need to add are their steak knives, and you’ll be set for life. Value for the money is a given....Highly recommend this set!!!
All the knives you are likely to ever use, stored in a beautiful, space-saving, narrow block. Expensive but you certainly get what you pay for; the Wusthof knives are flawlessly built, and are the sharpest kitchen knives I've ever used (shaving sharp). Wusthof are completely superior other German knives and to the USA Cutco knives I've used (except for the shears). The block I ordered was in beautiful (Acacia) wood.As others have noted, the shears are not made by Wusthof (no country of origin listed), so buy this set for the knives, not the shears. If you need a good pair of shears try Kershaw for an inexpensive set or try Cutco (if cost is no object).
I've had these for a few weeks now. They have all gone through my dishwasher several times so far. The knives have not had any trouble with the dishwasher. However, the shears are a different story. The shears are not nearly the same quality as the knives -- they're more along the lines of a $10 set of KitchenAid shears. The Wustof shears that came with this set showed rust after one cycle in my dishwasher.Nice, solid knife block.
I know they're expensive but if you are able, get this set. They're the last knives you'll ever have to buy! Seriously. The quality is unlike ANY other knives I've ever owned. I plan on purchasing a few more knives that aren't in the set. They're THAT good.
I read the description completely and everything indicated this set was made in Germany. Imagine my disappointment when reading “Made In China” written across the kitchen shears! This is miss leading and if I wanted cheap Chinese kitchen shears I could by a set at Harbor Freight for $2.99. I spent several hundred dollars on what was advertised and I thought was an entire set of forged, Solingen German made cutlery. If it wasn’t so close to Christmas (so I could acquire a quality replacement set), I would be sending these back for a refund.
First off these knives are very sharp and high quality. The reason for the review being only 2 stars is the fact that one knife was shipped with a broken tip. That wouldn't be a problem if they honored their warranty. Within 10 min of opening the box I contacted customer service and was told the knife is fine. I was offered a $20 credit but no replacement. Very disappointed with customer service. These are great knives as long as they arrive perfect.
