Edit: Follow up; after nearly a year of ownership and I have not needed to sharpen them. Just use the honing steel once or twice a week and they stay in perfect condition.Absolutely no comparison to any other knives I've ever used. All these knives are very well balanced, sturdy and razor sharp.Let me start with the price.I was bashful at first because I've only every owned knife sets under $100.After only 1 month with these knives I'll cautiously say; don't waste your time on cheap knife sets that need to be replaced every few years (chipped blades, thin edges that don't retain their straightness, general dullness etc.)This set is an investment both in your quality of cooking, and safety of prep work. Well worth the money.Chef's knife in particular has a stately feel. Very solid yet elegant and balanced. Full tang is a must. So effortless to chop & dice any fruit/veggie I've thrown at it this first month.I butterfly cut some chicken breasts with the 6" utility knife just for the sake of a test. (A task which would usually be settled with my fillet knife.) The utility knife performed about the same the filet knife (which says something about the sharpness and edge as its 4x thicker than the fillet knife to begin with.)The shears I have only used for fresh herbs so far but they cut with extreme ease and precision.I could chop food all day with this set.I have received no incentive to write this review, I was just this excited about this set of knives after only 1 month. After reading many other reviews stating they're on their 20th, 30'th years with their Wustofs I can see why.I'll follow up with 6 month and yearly reviews to indicate sharpening/honing intervals etc.

These knives are more expensive because they are well worth it. They are so well crafted ......the weight distribution is unbelievable and the blade is perfection. The appearance of this set is very attractive and I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

  • Amazon Customer

Extremely sharp knives! Love them. Top quality and design. The handles are ergonomic which is why I went with the Icon version rather than the classic.

  • Daryl

    Great high quality knife set!

  • Amazon Customer

Very sharp. Great balance. Effortless to use.

  • R. Sherwood

    Great Knife set.

  • JD

Once you use these, other knives will feel like a lot of work.

When I first received this knife block set back in June 2021, I absolutely loved their sharpness. Now it's been less than a year, I don't use them very often as I have another knife set, and they're DULL.....REALLY DULL! For this amount of money and the fact that I use them infrequently you'd think the knife blades would hold their sharp edges longer. Not even close.STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU LOOK FOR A DIFFERENT KNIFE SET.

Thought I was buying quality, so I didn’t mind paying for it. I dropped one on a tile floor and it broke! Very disappointed.

Bought as an early Christmas gift.My sweetheart loves the set. Most people looking at this level of knife set most likely know who Gordon Ramsay is. We have been watching all things Gordon Ramsay and this is where I started to research about kitchen knives.Like a car mechanic looking for the best tools to invest in rather than buy the cheapest to use once and throw out immediately when they fail. To just buy more cheap junk to repeat the process with. You look for the best tools you can afford, why? Becaue that high quality tool set will be used over and over for the rest of your life. Instead of throwing it away after one or two uses you add more quality tools to the set.So for those into car repair what tools would you rather invest in - Tool Box Trolley or Craftsmen or Snap-On?In my opinion Craftsmen is the starting point. Sna-On and Mac Tools and others are even better investments. So I found out what Gordon Ramsay recommends for any Cook to Chef to have as a basic tool set.Chef AKA Cook's knife.Long serrated knife.Utility knife.Pairing knife. And, a honing steel and quality kitchen sheers you can take apart.I don't play golf but I imagine you want to invest in a nice set of clubs. And, you may not need every possible club but a core set of club. A driver, a putter, a wedge. That is all I know about that. But, it would be the start of any golfer's journey. No matter if they are new to the sport or vets. These knives cut through thinks like a hot knife through melted butter. This manufacturer also makes a manual and electric knife sharpening system as well as offers whetstone sharpening kits. It is best to get the same brand sharpening system as your knives. Off brands may not be hard enough to sharpen your knives.I took picture and all knives are laser eched with the manufacturer logo and where made. The kitchen sheers have the logo and manufacturer name only. The honing steel has the logo at the end of the handle. Now, my set has cosmetic differences than the manufacturers images show. For one where the logo is concerned: My set doesn't have the red field square. That goes for all knives and the sheers. Not to mention the wood block nameplate is all stainless steel and no red.The honing steel does not feature a hole in the handle and is not the same black material used on thr knives. The honing steel has an all metal handle. Trust me on this, I am not upset or complaining. The block is made from what looks to be reclaimed Acacia wood. I say reclaimed because when you look at it is made from smaller pieces. And, that is pretty cool.Overall:Value for money: 5 stars.Build quality: 5 stars.First time using gift option:5 stars.First time using the pay in equal amounts: 2 starsToday my bank alarted me to my account being overdrafted. I already contacted Amazon before today to find out why I got 4 dictate pending charges. I was assured that only one was charged. My bank is ready to dispute this for me if these additional duplicated charges do not drop off.Once the things are correct I will reopen this review and gladly update this portion to freflect the 5 star experience.Part was being new to this process. When you make a purchase using the equal payments option your bank account will have 1 agreed to amount the one with tax and s/h if any with the amount. This will be the first. Then 3 or 4 or 5 or how many ever equal payments will show up aldo. But, as pending only. These other payments are NOT going to be charged until your agreed upon times in your payment contract. The next payment will be a month later, and the next another month ect. Until your timed payments are done. Why all ay once like this? It represents 1 single purchase and is to remind you of your obligation to insure payments are made. And, it is much easier to track and follow
